American and British English spelling differences[edit]

Welcome, and thank you for correcting spelling on the Rainwater tank page on Wikipedia! However, galvanized and galvanised both are acceptable spellings of the word.

Please familiarize yourself with American and British English spelling differences before making further spelling corrections to articles. Wikipedia has 46,567,957 registered users on this English Wikipedia. These editors use different versions of English including American English and British English. The list of dialects of the English language goes on and on.

When many styles are acceptable, avoid changing from one style to another unless there is some substantial reason for the change. It is acceptable to change from American spelling to British spelling only if the article concerns a British topic or vice versa or if you are making the article internally consistent.

More information is available on Wikipedia's Manual of Style. Enjoy your time on the internet's fastest growing encyclopædia/encyclopedia . Thank you. --Kralizec! (talk) 03:59, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi Apato!

I'm planning to send Stegosaurus to Featured Article candidacy. The article failed its first nomination, but user:Casliber and I have been hard at work fixing stuff. As you're listed as a member of Wikipedia: WikiProject Dinosaurs, I figured I'd drop you a line and see if there was anything you thought should be added/removed/cited on the article before it is sent to FAC. We definitely want it to pass! :)

(Feel free to make any edits on the article itself, comment on the talk page, or leave a note on my talk page). Thanks for your time, Firsfron of Ronchester 19:19, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well done on that edit, mate. I was stumped about the type species. Can be very confusing, eh? Cheers!--Gazzster 01:01, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi Apatomerus! I found your name via the m:Association of Inclusionist Wikipedians and thought you might want to know about this proposal: m:Proposals for closing projects/Radical cleanup of Volapük Wikipedia. In case you think that deleting stubs is not the best for the Volapük Wikipedia, perhaps you could help us fight against it with your vote. Thanks! Europe 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:07, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
